Hey Queens! Welcome back to another episode of Captivation Radio. Everywhere in the spiritual and even entrepreneurial community there is talk about energy, keeping a high vibe, etc. But wtf does this all mean? Today, I am going to talk about what energy is, how you can feel and interpret energy, how to protect your energy, and what you can do to raise your energy when it gets low.
What is energy?
Everything is energy. Every religion discusses some type of spirit, soul, or life force. Although it can be called by all different names, the general consensus is that we are more than our physical bodies. There is something inside of everyone and everything that cannot be explained by science as we know it.
Positive energy can feel like electricity, like the air before lightning strikes. Negative energy feels like a void or like a heavy weight.
People who have positive energy:
· Find the best in everything
· Go with the flow
· Treat themselves well
· Forgive easily
· Avoid complaining
· Build up others
· Wake up excited for the day
How can I feel and interpret energy?
Everyone has the ability to feel energy, yes, I really said everyone. Some people are more sensitive than others because they have learned to trust the feelings they get, and they continually work on growing this skill. Like any other skill, the ability to feel energy will get better with practice.
The first step is to understand that what you see is not always what you get. People will lie about their emotions, sometimes to mislead you and many times because they do not feel comfortable sharing how they really feel, or because they do not know how they really feel. Everyone is not in tune with their own emotions or energy.
The next step is learning to tune into the energies of other people without letting your mind overpower the feelings that your body gets. When you meet someone ask yourself, how does this person make me feel? Do I feel energized or depleted?
Look people in their eyes. There is a special energy that comes through the eyes. This is why we can feel someone staring at us without looking and why we can feel eyes on us even when we don’t know anyone else is there. When you look someone in the eyes acknowledge what your first feeling was. Are there eyes warm and welcoming? Or are they cold and blank? Are they happy? Is there a hidden sadness behind them? Again, do not try to intellectually determine what the emotion is, listen to your instincts.
What feelings are elicited when you touch this person? Can you feel their heart, their warmth, their empathy and acceptance? When we shake hands or hug someone, we can often feel energies that we cannot see. We can feel if people are pulling away, lingering extra-long because they need some of our energy, or if they are hiding something.
Pay attention to tone of voice, speed of speech, and volume. There is a lot that can be determined by how someone speaks. When we know someone really well then it becomes even easier to tell what their energy is like based on how they are speaking. A quiet, shaky voice may mean someone is feeling insecure. An overly loud voice can also indicate insecurity and a need to be the center of attention. When people are happy their voice will be a little faster than when they are sad. Rate of speech can also be increased when people are really anxious. Again, the important thing to do is listen to what your intuition is telling you. You will naturally pick up on changes of tone or rate of speech that can indicate deception or change of attitude. Not everyone will have the same changes in voice. For example, we generally associate people yelling with anger. However, some people (like me) get quieter when they are mad.
Even the way people laugh can tell a lot about their energy. Have you ever noticed that some people will only slightly laugh, and others will exaggerate their laugh? Pay attention to anything that does not feel natural and ask yourself what energy do you think is being hidden behind the fake laughter?
Reading people’s aura. An aura is the magnetic field around a person. With practice people can learn to see this aura and use this to interpret people’s energy. Auras are usually red, yellow, orange, blue and green. These colors can be more dull or more intense and may contain silver and gold tones as well. Each of these colors then has a meaning.
How do I know if someone is a good energetic match?
The best relationships, whether platonic, romantic, or business are between people who are a good energetic match.
Here are some signs you are an energetic match:
· You don’t try to dim your light when you’re around them
· You have mutual respect
· There are zero judgements
· You have open communication
· Positive energy flows from you to them and from them to you
· You leave feeling energized from encounters with them
· You both grow from the relationship
· You bring out the best in each other
How can I protect my energy?
There is no way to completely avoid everyone who has negative energy, so we must learn ways to deal with this energy and not let it affect us.
Here are some simple methods to protect your energy:
· Meditate before you leave the house so you can feel connected to your own energy.
· Ground yourself. I like to do this by walking outside barefoot and imagining roots coming from my feet into the earth. I know this isn’t always an option in the Winter, so then I have to find other methods like planting things.
· When you are around many people and feel negative energy try moving 20 feet away from the person who you think is the cause and see if the feelings decrease.
· If you cannot move away focus on your own breath and let your breath, call in positive energy and exhale negative energy.
· Carry or wear gemstones that clear negative energy like quartz or selenite.
· Visualize protection all around you. For me this looks like a giant ball of light that surrounds me everywhere I go. For others this looks like an animal circling them and ensuring no one enters their energetic field.
· Set boundaries. Learn to say no to things that will be too draining for you.
If you feel like negative energy has already affected, you:
· Ask is this emotion mine or someone else’s?
· Repeat “Return to sender” 3 times
· Call your own energy back. My mantra is “I call all of my energy back to me, I call all of my power back to me, I call all of my magic back to me.” I start with 3 times, but I will say it as many times as I feel like I need to in order for it to work.
· Detox in water. Take a shower or a bath and feel the negative energy being washed away. You can also do this by swimming.
How can I change my energy?
We all feel negative sometimes. No one can possibly be positive and upbeat every minute of every day. If they try to tell you, they are then they are clearly denying some of their emotions. The important thing is to not dwell in this state long term. Although, we do not have control over outside events, we do have control of how we let them affect us and for how long.
This is why we need to develop strategies to help change our energy when it is falling into the negative side of the spectrum.
