Psychic & Intuitive Abilities

The last few episodes we have been talking about intuition & today I want to dive deeper into this topic and talk about some psychic abilities, this will not be an all-inclusive list because there are way too many to talk about on one episode.

Psychic abilities are defined as an innate ability to process sensory data — both tangible and intangible stimuli — on an extremely deep emotional, physical, or spiritual level. Everyone has some type of psychic abilities. Some tap into them and some do everything they can to deny them. A lot of people fall somewhere in the middle, sometimes trusting their gifts and other times not so much. As I’ve said many times, society has a way of conditioning people into believing that nothing exists outside of the physical world that we can see, but we know better.

If you do not like the term psychic – which I personally don’t, you can use intuitive in its place. They both technically mean the same thing, but the feelings behind words hold energy, so you can choose. A lot of people do not like the term psychic because of the negative connotations caused by things like 900 number psychics and other people who have used their skills (real or imaginary) to take advantage of people, so please use whatever makes you feel most comfortable.

Telepathy

Telepathy is the ability to pass on information, ideas, feelings, etc between living beings without the involvement of known sensory organs. This is often portrayed as people being able to read one another’s minds.

Precognition

Prediction of future events, future can be seconds or minutes. Precognition is one of the gifts that is often associated with psychic abilities by the mainstream community. I’m sure you can picture a woman dressed in robes staring into a crystal ball and tell you who your future spouse is or predicting how the world is going to end. In real life it can be much more mundane, like knowing which elevator is going to come first.

Mediumship

Connection to spiritual world that allows the person to communicate with deceased persons, spirits, angels, etc. Mediumship is another gift that is commonly shown on mainstream media. This is the ability to see, hear, or otherwise communicate with people who are already on the other side of the veil. A lot of people correspond this with being psychic, but it is just one of many gifts.

Apportation

Moving of objects. This is the ability to teleport objects or move objects without physically touching them. I have never met anyone this ability, but there are some hilarious stories about people who were caught with things under their petticoats back in the day, in their attempt to defraud people.

Clairvoyance ~ Clear Sight

Ability to see images and visions. This gift can be used to obtain information about an object, person, location, and future and past events. People who are clairvoyant are often daydreamers. They have the ability to visualize and manifest with ease. If you are clairvoyant, you can often see vivid images of past memories and have vivid dreams at night. They can also see orbs, lights, colors, and shadows. Often clairvoyant people will continue getting the same vision, signs, and repeated numbers.

Clairaudience ~ Clear Hearing

The ability to hear without using your physical ears. People with this gift receive information through messages and sounds. These messages and sounds can come from inside your head or outside of your head. These messages could come from the dead (meaning you’re also a medium) or they can come from your guides or an unknown source. Have you ever had a conversation with yourself, and you told yourself the answer, but you don’t know how you came up with it? That could be a message from your higher self.

Side note: Some skeptics will say hearing voices is a sign of mental illness, which it can absolutely be. Here is the key difference – psychic messages will be for your good. Most of the messages will be calming and peaceful. The only time these messages will cause anxiety is if you are actually in danger. (Think about cases when people hear a voice telling them to turn around and someone was following them). If the voice you hear is scary or telling you to do something that would harm you or others then you need to speak to a professional.

Clairsentience ~ Clear Sense

Can feel the soul of a person and put themselves in the emotions, feelings, and perceptions of others. This is like having strong intuition combined with deep spiritual empathy. You can feel the emotions of people around you and of people from past situations. You can feel people’s energy or vibe. Clairsentience can be used on its own but is also a powerful tool to combine with other gifts and different types of divination like tarot. Other people use it in combination with energy healing because it is easier to clear blocks for people when you can feel them. It is extremely important if you have this gift that you are cleansing your energy field regularly, so you are not taking on the burdens of others.

Claircognizance ~ Clear Knowing

This is the ability to just know something about someone or a situation without any logical explanation. This information is instantly downloaded from the Universe. This information comes to mind suddenly without prior knowing, without logic, reason, or memory. It feels like a strong and certain knowing without room for doubt. It just is and you have to accept that.

This gift can be incredibly hard to explain. With other gifts you can say, “I saw this, or I heard this.” But in this case the knowledge is directly downloaded without hearing or seeing. It really is just there.

Divination

Divination is the practice of seeking knowledge of the future or the unknown by supernatural means. There are so many different methods of divination, and they vary greatly dependent on your culture and beliefs. Some examples are tarot, pendulums, casting runes, reading tea leaves, and so many more. These are all ways to communicate with the Universe to help you find answers. A lot of the people who use divination methods also use other psychic methods like the ones discussed previously.

Energy Medicine

Energy healing is a holistic practice that activates the body's subtle energy systems to remove blocks. By breaking through these energetic blocks, the body's inherent ability to heal itself is stimulated. This could be acupuncture, Reiki, or even massage. While these practitioners may not define their abilities as psychic, to me this falls into the psychic category because feeling others energy is a gift. We are going to go more into depth with this next week when we talk about energy.

How can you grow these abilities?

Trust yourself!

Take a whole day, week, month, or whatever you are comfortable with and decide you will trust your intuition. Then as the day goes on ask for the answers you need, ask to see signs, and then trust them as they arise. Don’t share with others who are negative about spirituality. When you’re at the beginning of your journey it might feel like you need reassurance from outside sources, instead of asking for it from humans ask for it from your spirit guides. If you do need to talk to a human, talk to one that understands and believes in what you are learning. Journal about your journey. You might forget just how many times the Universe is communicating with you if you do not keep track.
